Matthieu Ricard on Altruism

Buddhist Monk Matthieu Ricard understands the potential for human nature swing in one of two directions: towards immense good, or unspeakable evil. Becuase of this nature, he urges all to foster an altruistic attitude towards both nature and humanity. We are set to (if not already) inflict irreperable damage on our own planet. Changing our outlook and lifestyles are essential to caring for and maintaining our terrestrial home. Fundamentally, he argues that we are more geared towards goodness and acts of selflessness. It’s a beautiful idea, but don’t take my word for it. Check out his TED Talk below.
